We intentionally do not list all of our prices on the web and we must discuss your desires prior to accepting an order. There are smply too many variables affecting a potential order. We want to know our clients so that we can provide the exact products that they desire. As a general rule, our rods run $50 less than a standard factory rod with the same specifications.
We guarantee that our top of the line Winston and Sage Rods will be priced at or less than the MSRP on a comparable factory rod. For example the current price on our Premium level Winston BIIX 4,5 , or 6 Weight 9 foot 4 piece rod is only $599.00, including rod sock and aluminum tube and shipping to the lower 48 states (Shipping offers are not applicable to Washington State residents as of July 1, 2008 - We are also required to collect taxes from Washington State residents.) A Sage Z-Axis in 4, 5, or 6 weight, 9'', 4 piece is only $625 delivered (in the lower 48 states)!
These premium rods are handcrafted and hand spined using a first quality lifetime guaranteed blank from R.L. Winston or Sage (as applicable) .They also have a Struble U8 true nickle silver reel seat with a Bubinga, Walnut, Imbuya, Vermillion, Fiddleback Maple, Zebrawood, Cocobolo, Birdseye Maple, Vera, Stabilized Burl Maple, Burl Madrone, or any other wood insert available from Struble for the U8 reel seat (except Amboyna) at no extra charge! They also have Hopkins and Holloway double foot snake guides, a super grade quality cork handle in either full or half wells, two fish measuring wraps (we recommend 16" and 20" on Winstons) measured from from the base of the reel seat), a hook keeper, a nickle silver winding check, and your name inscribed on the rod.
A basic factory Winston BIIX rod would cost more than $645 and the Sage would be about $675 plus shipping. Even at those prices, they would still be missing some of our standard items and would possibly be spined incorrectly. These items cover all of the options that over 95% of our customers desire. You are only charged extra for non-typical options like feather inlays ($29.00), optional hardware, ultra expensive woods (like Amboyna) or other extras that may cost a bit more than our top quality standard components. Now, if you really want to save some money, please review all of our package deals!
This pricing is relatively unique for a custom rod maker. Most custom rod pricing starts at the factory MSRP and goes up from there. Once you see the quality of our rods, you will probably wonder why our rods don't cost more!
Our rods are a bit less than factory pricing normally because we emphasize quality, and customer satisfaction over profit. Our goal is to provide heirloom quality rods to the most people possible. We want to have your grandchildren fighting over who gets to fish with your rod!
We think you will be amazed at our package prices. If you are interested in a Custom rod, a Rio line, a Lamson/Waterworks reel, Chota Waders or wading boots, Fishpond vests or luggage or other quality fly fishing products, just drop us an email or give us a call and we will get back to you with a quote as soon as we can. Believe us, you will not be wasting your time. (contact us)
